A common 5 1/4" double-density floppy disk has a data storage capacity of 360 kilobytes. Assuming that a page of text occupies approximately 2 kilobytes of space, then this type of disk is capable of storing the equivalent of 180 pages of text, or enough for a small novel. Once considered a huge capacity, this is now relegated to the low end of data storage capacity.
